lyrics

Upon the trail a drink I had to venture far from home m'lad
So fill yer mug and take a chug as I spin you my tale
Now leave the bottle pass it here to pour myself another m'dear
My only vice it be the price to hear what I regail
Pay me well with fifty gallons of ale

Before the dawn upon that morn he packed his bag to the brim
He filled it high with bottles of rye rums and mothers ruin
He set the sack upon his back ready to depart
Then drained a flagon and hopped a wagon a fine old way to start

For he was the drunkest of men
No drunker man in all the land could drink to him and all his kin
Many a men would try, with tankards up high
He surely would drink them all dry

Upon the trail a drink I had to venture far from home m'lad
So fill yer mug and take a chug as I spin you my tale
Now leave the bottle pass it here to pour myself another m'dear
My only vice it be the price to hear what I regail
Pay me well with fifty gallons of ale

Heave ho... The challenge is set you cannot fail
Hey ho... Take a glass and pour your ale
Yo ho... We'll drink away the night
To the crack of dawn's first light get ready set sail

He built himself a pirate ship, (a pirate ship?) A PIRATE SHIP
A mighty craft with a thousand drafts and rums and beers and ale
Alas we'll need a mighty vessel a sturdy cannon of finest metal
A mast a brig a hull with skull and bones upon the sail

For he was a craftsman of men
No wiser man in all the land could build like him and all his kin
Many a men would try with hammers held high
He’d build our ship into the sky

So here be the tale of an iron livered man
No match for you warriors with swords in their hands
These are the wise words he said unto me
A story of his travels he shouted with glee
“PAY ME WELL WITH ALL THE BARRELS OF ALE”

Upon the trail a drink I had to venture far from home m'lad
So fill yer mug and take a chug as I spin you my tale
Now leave the bottle pass it here to pour myself another m'dear
My only vice it be the price to hear what I regail
Pay me well with fifty gallons of ale

“PAY ME WELL WITH FIFTY GALLONS OF ALE
FIFTY GALLONS OF ALE”
